Connecting the Dots in The Game of Irresponsibles: Part Two

We mentioned that the secret society gets a lot of money if they manage to recruit or destabilize the target mentally, but what happens if they fail?

According to the conclusion the individual has reached, if the secret society or the cult fails to do the job, the money goes to the target instead of them. Yes, apparently there’s a refund policy in organized harassment. How very consumer-friendly.

What happened with the Diminati is that they tried to recruit the individual and failed, so they stood on the bench and started watching. They didn’t have another option by then because they didn’t have influence in Mickey Mouse Land that they could use to break the individual. Nothing says “powerful secret society” quite like admitting you have zero pull in a place named after a cartoon rodent.

The one person they sent to recruit the target, in time, started to help him instead of recruiting him. Another person was sent to help the enslaved masons break the target, left them, and started helping the target as well.

On the other hand, the enslaved masons have influence in Mickey Mouse Land and have access to the target, so they have monopolized the game. Because when you can’t win fair and square, the next best thing is a monopoly. Very on-brand.

They still failed and didn’t manage to sacrifice the individual by the deadline, but they refused to accept the loss, so they offered their own money on the gambling table to extend the deadline. Yes, they doubled down. Because if there’s one thing history has taught us, it’s that throwing more money at a failing conspiracy always works.

Now, if they lose, they don’t only lose the big payment, but they also lose their own money. When they kept failing deadline after deadline, they didn’t have more money to gamble with, so they gambled the whole cult—and they still lost. At this point, they’re not a secret society; they’re a cautionary tale about problem gambling.

Now, according to the rules of the game, they don’t only owe the target money, but they owe him everything their cults own. One imagines the paperwork alone is a nightmare.

The enslaved masons’ structure has many cults. Each of the cults was competing against the others to get the huge payment, and this made them fight among themselves. Nothing strengthens a shadowy organization quite like internal petty squabbling over cash.

The result was too much noise and too much exposure that attracted authorities from many countries. Finally, when they realized that none of them would manage to get the money if they didn’t collaborate together, they started to communicate. Cults that hate each other started to organize attacks together against the target. They even started to use the authorities of Mickey Mouse Land in their game, and after all of that, they still failed. You have to admire the consistency.

After the exposure and for lack of money, they were not able to continue the game, and that’s when the Diminati stepped back into the picture. Because clearly, the solution to a failed conspiracy is to bring back the first group that already failed. Brilliant strategy. Truly, these are the masterminds we’re up against.
