The First Line of Attack: Work

They started where it hurts most for anyone trying to live with independence: the workplace.

The assumption seemed to be, “If he needs money to live, he’ll eventually back down.”

But back down from what?

This wasn’t about breaking laws or violating rules—it was about not conforming to unspoken social habits.

Habits people followed without much thought—because that’s how their parents lived, and their parents before them.

To be clear, he never opposed traditions or cultural norms.

He simply didn’t want to be forced into them.

He believed people should live how they want, as long as it doesn’t harm others—and thought he lived in a country that agreed with this principle.

What he didn’t realize was that, sometimes, the real conflict starts not when you break the law, but when you quietly refuse to follow habits others never questioned.

Misunderstanding or Malice?

At first, he tried to handle things constructively. He assumed it was just workplace tension or personality clashes.

So, he communicated openly. Tried to understand. Tried to resolve things.

But it became clear that this wasn’t a misunderstanding—it was resistance. And it kept growing.

The work environment became openly hostile:

Discrimination, subtle ridicule, and a general atmosphere of rejection.

Even raising the issue with higher management didn’t help.

Eventually, he realized:

This wasn’t going to get better. And it wasn’t his job to fix it.

Setting Boundaries and Facing the Consequences

So he made a decision: it’s time to leave.

He submitted a request to part ways respectfully, after realizing the environment had become unsustainable.

But instead of processing the request professionally, they terminated him without notice—citing something that never happened.

He realized that sometimes, setting boundaries is perceived as defiance.

And unfortunately, defiance—no matter how calm or respectful—can be met with retaliation.

A New Beginning—or Another Chapter?

He thought that leaving would close a chapter. That he’d walk away with dignity and move toward something better.

Instead, he found himself facing a new kind of difficulty—one that raised deeper questions about fairness, systems, and justice.

And that’s what the next part of the story will explore.
